Regardless the price, If you would have the choice to hunt one of these animals, which one would be your choice. Roland

I chose the Brown Bear only because I have already taken leopard and buffalo but not a BB. 465H&H

In my humble opion, the big Brown Bears from Kodiak Island are the top Big Game Animal in the World.

Buffalo was not a challenge to me, I have shot 2 Leopard which I do believe to be great hunting and have shot one Bison which was actually just a slaughter of one for a battalion cookout at Ft Sill. They (the park rangers) just pointed it out and I shot it, with an M1 actually. Tasted great. The big bear seem to me one of the scariest of all game animals, just have always been too expensive to justify in as much as they usually cost more than the entire cost of a nice plains game hunt airfare and all. I have taken several cape buffalo and they are fun. I keep trying for a leopard and hope to get lucky but I find it boring hunting. Never tried brown bear and would love to. Bison do not appeal to me except as a freezer filler. JPK Free 500grains

Zimbabwe, if it's too easy, you need to step up to a longbow and wooden arrows. Rich DRSS

Bison is more of a religion for me, comforting and nourishing. My freezer will never be without bison meat nor my teepee without bison robes. Leopard from a blind seems totally boring, but I would shoot one by chance encounter or by hunting with dogs. Not high on my list of to-do's. Cape buffalo is always on the agenda, and more readily available and affordable than a brown bear in most cases. I have a grudge against a King Kong sized Kodiak. He looked like a 12-footer, so I'll just exaggerate a little and say he would have been 13-feet-square if I had a chance to stretch his hide. King Kodiak turned tail and ran when I stalked within 300 yards of him, from 2 miles out, glassing. I want a Kodiak. I picked Alaskan Brown Bear in the poll above. A little 8-foot Kodiak stuck his nose into my tent one moonless night on a Kodiak deer hunt, and caused me to start firing the 340 Wby I was sleeping with out the tent flap. The score is: Brown Bears: 2 Rip: 0 Time to even the score.

Alaskan Bison: I love cold weather, it would be a kick to take one with a cast bullet out of my 45-70 BPCR, and I love bison meat.

Killed a 9' 3" Brown in Yakutat, AK with a 340 WTBY after spending two other trips with a longbow and wood arrows for the same. Could never get close enough but man what a hunt But I am even more pumped for a Lepoard with dog hunt this year and a buff in Moz. I know of a great hunt for Alberta Bison (wild) in the cold and will consider it in 08.

For me, The hunt is seeing and experiencing new places. I have been to Alaska hunting black bear and it is beautiful, but never been to Africa. That narrows it down to Buff and leopard. There is no way in HELL I can sit in a blind for hours for a shot at a cat. Buff wins!! Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com

For me it is a real toss up between Buffalo and leopard. I finally picked leopard because I already have a buffalo.

,,.,., I know I,m odd but the only one of the bunch that scares me is Brown Bear......Mayby thats because they seem to like doing so and are very numerous..and it happens often enough.....Cape Buffalo # 2.... .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

I have never hunted any of them, and while I'll likely hunt buffalo before brown bear I picked the brownie. I think both are top predators, both worthy hunts, but the buffalo is more bang for your buck, Alaskan safaris from the little I have seen are out of hand. So given the choice without having to be reasonable, I'd go brown. the other factor I considered was that I believe the BIG bears are going to get harder to find than good buffalos, but what do I know, I'm no zoologist. Brown Bear - That's been on my list for a while. It is probably my next big hunt. Maybe I can fit a goat in the mix too .

This was a tough one for me it was 50.5--49.5 with the Brownie over the Cape. I'm thinking a brownie hunt would have more of a challenge in the stalk over cape buff. But if a combination hunt for other species were included I would choose an African hunt hands down. R.

I've never hunted either of the 4. The choice was easy for me Cape Buffalo all the way. I want to hunt and see as much of Africa as possible during my lifetime. Leopard no sitting in a blind for hours on end just doesn't appeal to me at all. Brown Bear I would love to hunt all except for I despise cold weather and for the price of a brown bear hunt I would rather go to Africa for the Cape Buffalo and add a few plains game to the hunt also or a side trip non hunting. Bison I would just like to have the freezer full of Bison steaks, but I wouldn't have to go to Alaska to do that. "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

Since I understand that lots of Brown Bear are killed every year with 300WM's and the like, and Jack O'Connor used a 270 Win on several one and two shot kills, one in the shoulder to immobilize and the second thru the lungs to finish off the job...it has to be Cape Buffalo. Bust a shoulder on a Buff and he will still come and get you on three legs...Bear just stands there and waits helplessly for the coupe de gras! Besides, freezing the cojones off while having fun is not an option for me anymore. I like hunting in shirtsleeve weather. Rich DRSS
