Hellyeah. Even though it's a semi-pushfeed, my 458 will chamber any round any kind of ways w/o fail. The main thing I like about it is that it fits me to a "T" and feels like shooting a 375 H&H, real soft recoil Originally it was going to get converted to crf by an old machinist pal but he got into an acrimonious divorce and all his machinery and tools went, so no conversion. Zim PH and author Lou Hallamore (In the Salt)has one and has used it since the war years. It is his back up rifle to his 470 double. I borrowed it a couple of years ago to take my largest bull elephant. If it wasn't 100% reliable I doubt he would still have it 465H&H

We have had one in our Tanzania camp for a number of years and its still working..The Ruger is as good a factory rifle as you can get. The Safari is a really class rifle. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Thanks for the responses. I do like tang safeties and the Ruger is the easiest way to get one. The old style triggers can be adjusted into a very nice crisp let off. e If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

You might want to check with Ganyana on this issue. In Harlands book "Ndlovu" Don states that Zim Parks sold or destroyed their Ruger 458s because of a problem with them not feeding when the action was cycled very rapidly. This is the only negative report that I have heard on them though. 465H&H

That is interesting. I read Richard Harlands book a little while ago. I didn't remember that. Well if I find one for a good price I will just have to try one out. e If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

I've got one of the RSC models they made in the late 70s - early 80s with the Circassian (spelling?) walnut stocks. Bear and moose hunted some with it here in Alaska in the mid 80s but never got a chance to shoot anything with it. Well made gun for a Ruger and seemed to work and feed well with anything I loaded into it. Converting it to a controlled feed would make it a much nicer gun - anyone know who does this conversion?
