Can't answer the stock question. It's laminated but I don't know where Ray got it. Maybe he will chime in on this question. Will send a full picture tomorrow. I am still experimenting with the front sight. If you will recall, the rifle shot 11.5" low at 50 yards with the original rear sight set as high as it would go. Changing to the Pop Up sight raised the POI by 6". I am now trying a lower front sight to get the additional 5.5" I need but it has been to cold to try it out. Will keep you posted on that. John

Lewis50- Yes, the eye relief is perfect for me. Your concern was one I had too. In talking to Jim Brockman, he said if the sight doesn't work for this model scope that he could put the Pop Up at the front of the rear base. Also, my scope has more room to move forward but it's just about right where it is now. John

Thanks SBT! A .416 Atkinson? Well I bought it from Ray so that is what I call it. Actually it is a .416 Rem Mag. Originally barreled for a .375 H&H, Ray bought a new Douglas barrel in .416 and "we" had it shipped to Dennis Olson in MT for some gunsmithing. It has now been transformed! What I did or had done: I had a recoil lug added, a Pachymar Decelerator pad installed and the trigger adjusted to 3 pounds. Barrel length is 24" and it balances well. The action is unchanged. It is a Model 70 long bolt and of course CRF. I removed the original barrel mounted rear sight and put a Brockman rear Pop Up Peep Sight. This sight is integrated with Talley bases so I used Talley QD rings for the Leupold VXIII 1.5-5X scope. The Brockman sight is more like a ghost ring and provides quick target acquistion. It can be adjusted for windage and elevation. This rifle will compliment my Sako .375 H&H so I am ready for for just about anything on the planet. I hope Will is pleased! John

I've one of Brockman's Tally peeps on order and plan on putting it on my 416 Rem. It looks like the scope on yours is mounted pretty far back to clear the peep, do you have enough eye relief with that set up? I hope to use a 1.75X6 VXIII on mine for the larger objective ( to gather more light for my tired old eyes ) but may have to use one of my 1.5X5 Vari-X III if it doesn't give me enough eye relief. What are your thoughts on the fit of your scope.

John, I built the stock from a piece of laminate I got from Scott McCracken as I recall, I think he turned it for me and I finished it... If you have the original island V rear sight on a screw gizzie looking affair, that I think was on it, I would like to buy it from you.. Normally with that Brockman peep you can get a NECG partridge sight of .005 or .007 and set you peep to the center of its adjustment then file the front sight to zero.
