Beautiful rifle! What was the second one that you posted? That checkering pattern is amazing! There can't be that many stockmakers that can handle that pattern I would think. Fluer de lis doesn't do it for me but the ribbons tickle my fancy very well. First rate work all around. I didn't realize that Ignore was working, I thought at some point we lost that function. It is great, I put that worhtless POS shootaway on ignore and it auto-refreshed cutting out the posts. Now if the moderators could just change it so that instead of "ignored post by xxxx" it said "ignored post by moron unjustly allowed to breathe air otherwise suitable for intelligent members of humankind" or something along those lines. Dago Red, The second rifle was crafted by John Bolliger, .375 H&H. Passionate by high-quality craftsmanship and art, I truly believe John Bolliger is a great custom gun maker and artisan, amongst the very best in the trade, if not the best in my opinion. In fact I believe that today’s custom guns made by US custom makers are as good as it gets. Thank you, Roland

Roland, Judging from the photos you have posted and many that have been posted on other forums by members here, I truly have to agree with this statement. We're living in the age of the finest custom gunmakers ever in history. Not only are they capitolizing on technology but they're also the finst artists I've ever seen. I truly enjoy seeing the photos posted here.... /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Those are great looking rifles! ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life." Terry Pratchett.

Yes, Indeed. Good as it gets. The only way it could be any better is if that Pre-64 M70 was a stainless Magnum Mauser 98 in a McMillan stock. I have seen those Talley bases put on that way before, on a Kenny Jarrett bean field rifle. However, I would rather have the rear Talley base overhang the ejection port a wee bit and have the strongest setup for the rear base and front base, or have Talley base modified differently than the picture shows. With 8x40 screws, of course.

Roland, A very happy new year to you and yours. Oh yes the rifle, it's an absolute beaut. To my eye it's one of the better of the several functional works of art you have posted, thank you for doing so.
