Today I purchased a new Leupold 1.5-5 Vari-X III scope, brought it home and opened it, and it has a BAD rattle when you barely shake the scope. I called Leupold, and they said to send it back and they would repair it. If this is representative of the higher-dollar Leupold scopes, I think I'll just stick to Burris or Nikon ....... better quality, in my opinion. Anyone else had this problem ??? Thanks.

you must have gotten a lemon i have 7 lepould scopes and love them all and have not had a problem with any of them.

i have a vx-lll 1.5-5 and it works great. i had a 2.5-8 vxlll on my 458 lott but took it off in favor of the 1.5-5.
i also have one of the 1.75-6 vxlll scopes as well but will be selling it in 1-2 weeks to my uncle.

Frank,

I currently own 17 Leupold scopes, and have owned many more. I've never had a problem with any of them.

Leupold WILL make it right, of that you can be sure.

Sounds about like the one I got for an 1895G. It was the 1.75x6x32mm though. It came apart in less than 20 shots. Leupold made it right though, they can all make lemons.

I only buy Leupolds. They really stand behind their products. I have four Vari-X III 1.5-5x scopes. They're on Rugers in .30-06, .35 Whelen, .375 H&H and .416 Rigby. One of them I had on a Win Model 70 in .458 Win. Mag. that I no longer own. Something let go inside from the recoil. Sent it back to Leupold and they fixed it right away. Had it back in less than two weeks. No questions asked from them. That scope is now on the .35 Whelen and doing fine. I also own an LPS 1.75-6x, a VX-II 3-9x, a Vari-X III 2.5-8x and a Compact 2.5x (fixed). I'm sure there are other brands that people are happy with but I've been very satisfied with Leupold.

Any manufacturer can have a lemon slip through quality control. Just send yours back to Leupold and they'll make it right.

Just my two cents worth....

Frank,
I have 13 Leupolds now and have had numerous others. I have had no problems with any of them VXIII, VXII, M-8, compact, etc...
I second Georges on the service of this company being the best there is. I once sent them a VXIII 2.5-8 handgun scope that I purchased at a pawn shop $125.00. I sent it in to have the scratched ocular lens replaced $30.00 and they sent me a new scope $430.00 value . Not many others will do that!!
