I just wanted to share some pics of what I have done to my CZ550 S.M. in .416 Rigby.

The "self"-recountoured, sand-blasted barrel (what a PITA!-the scope DID actually fit without the recountour, but the Butler Creek front cover did not) :

The entire package (below) :

For the "Purists", remember that I also have a Ruger Safari in .416 as well! Wink

Looks good, although the scope looks awfully large for a .416. What brand of stock did you use?

McMillan stock, eh? thumb
You know I dig it, but the scope does seem a bit Kokeshish.

RIP's correct, the stock is a CZ Express by McMillian that was specifically re-enforced by McMillian for the .416 caliber.

The scope, for those curious, is a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5x14-50mm. I agree, it is larger than what is normally seen on a .416 Rigby, but I need the light gathering and power for long range elk. It's zero'd for 250 yards, and I have made a chart for shooting out to 600 yards. At 600 yards, my setup wields the same energy of a .30-06 w/ 180 gr bullet at the muzzle. Big Grin

Here's the Ruger......it's stock besides a 3.5 lb trigger job, and an ejector mod by yours truly:

It has awesome woodgrain, but it's not a "custom" so I didn't feel the need for a BIG pic.

Great rig for long range elk. Mil dot reticle?

You have your RSM in .416 Rigby with iron sights and low-power scope for DG.

Great combo. thumb

I have come full circle. I embrace both the .416 Rigby and the .404 Jeffery as full equals. Cool

The elk rifle's scope is actually the standard Duplex.....I just dial in the MOA elevation when needed. Wink

As for the Ruger, it will remain scopeless. The only additional things that I would like to do to it is to add a Limbsaver pad, a NECG rear peep, and a NECG Fiber Optic Bead front sight. thumb

Thanks for the compliment! Cool

A cool thing that I did is that I set the rings out until they are right up to the scope's front bell, and the rear rim of the power adjustment. That combined with the integral lugged rear CZ ring, provides one of the most solid scope mountings possible. If you look closely, you can see what I'm talking about. thumb

I still need a straight handle installed on the CZ though. Frowner

FWIW, I also installed all screws in the rings with Allen headed screws (for more "torque-age" Wink ) , and tossed the flat heads in the trash can. clap
