Tom, Ray, 450 are all right. I use my .416 Rem to hunt hogs with in the US and am planning a cape buff hunt possibly as early as next year. Better to practice on a live moving target than paper....IMHO.

I would love to take my Searcy 470NE deer hunting and would do it without hesitation - but alas -I live in Ohio, a shotgun slug state.

Now there is a perfectly good reason to call Butch and have him fix you up with the optional 12 Ga. shotgun barrels After all it's only money.

I agree with Ray and NE 450 #2. Great practice for Africa. I'll be usind a 500 nitro this year and have used 416 Rigby for ground hogs in the past [anyone can shoot them with a scoped 243] ,venture out.

IT'S a double rifle. You think anyone would think it was anything but a double bbl shotgun???
shooting "slugs"

do they allow the rifled bbls for the shotguns down there?

just curious. Seems like if they allow shotguns with aftermarket Hastings type fully rifled bbls.

I've taken deer with the .470 NE Searcy. I used a cast bullet load ... 500 grain GC FP pushed with XMR5744 at 1500 fps for 2500 lb-ft of energy. Very accurate load, easy on cases, and cheap to shoot.

Works pretty much like a warm 45/70 load ... the Hammer of Thor!
