This past weekend I was tooling around the Houston edition of the "Texas Hunter's Extravaganza" and happened upon the Blaser booth. Not being a fan of their bolt-guns I was about to move on and then I noticed this little "keen" looking rifle....a single-shot that broke open like a double (hmm, I'm already familiar with break-open breech loaders) so I asked to have a look-see. In "ONE" second I was hooked...this little thing with its octaginal bbl and full length Man-licker (even sounds good) stock was a real sweetie. I'm smitten! OK, so what's the poop on these guns - who's she been sleeping with, so to speak! Good, bad, otherwise....Let's hear it! Jeff

I don't own one, however my best friend and hunting partner does. He has 222, 30-06, and 9.3 barrels for it. Took it to Africa 2 years ago with the '06 barrel and had a blast, harvesting several nice animals even though he was mostly along for the bird hunting. He added the other barrels later. From what Blaser told him, 3 is about the limit on the number of barrels of differing calibers they recommend. Don't know why. It is light and quite a thumper in the 9.3, but very managable due to stock design. I've been toying with getting one since my searching for a small caliber double has been fruitless to date. If I were to get one it would wear a 5.6x52R and a 6.5x57R for calibers and be used for varmints, deer, and antelope in the USA. The breech system is a bit different, but once you are used to it, it's not a problem to work with, disassemble, etc. His is very accurate, like every Blaser I have ever shot. I'm sure someone will have negative experiences with the K95, I just can't say anything bad about it. Good luck, Mike ______________________ Guns are like parachutes. Jeff I have a Blaser K 95 Stutzen. While I have handled the "regular" K 95's and liked them, when I saw a Stutzen in my favorite non magnum caliber, 308, I had to have it. I scoped it with a Ziess 1" [to keep it light and handy] 3x9 in the Blaser European QD mount. I have shot 6 different factory 308 loads and one handload from 150 grains to 180 grains. At 100 yards shooting prone off of my day pack I have not shot a single 3 shot group over 1 inch. This is UNBELIEVELABLE I know, but true. A beautiful, light, handy, classy, accurate rifle, it is already one of my favorites. So far I have taken one wild turkey, stalked and shot off hand, and a black bear over bait. This is one of the most accurate hunting rifles I have ever shot. I have had no problems with the rimless case. I highly recommend it. A friend who has a 243 Stutzen reports very good accuracy as well. When I take a goat or sheep hunt this is the rifle I will use. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Chopper Guy Unless you just want the European calibres... I have not had ANY problems with the 308 rimless case. For a short, light single shot, I fine the 308 PERFECT for me, and any game I would use such a rifle for. Especially as accurate as this one is with bullets from 150 to 180 grains. I was at Briley's here in Houston a couple of weeks ago and looked at one. It was a nice rifle and very tempting. Briley has (at least they did a few weeks ago) a couple of them on display. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. NE 450 No2: Already have a .30-06 in one double (Krieghoff) and I agree with no problems with function or accuracy in the rimless caliber. - Just proper to have a cartridge that's rimmed and OLDER than I am in my future doubles. ______________________ Guns are like parachutes. Chopper Guy Have you thought about a 7x65R? I think that would be the best all round rimmed single shot ctg. However for me the 308 is still King. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Sorry about hijacking this thread. Can't bring myself to tell the wife I have an "all around" cartridge. Thay may end the gun shopping in a big hurry. I agree that the 7x65, 308 & 30-06 will do anything we want them to do in the realm for which they are intended. I just want the small caliber double (or Single shot) experience some day and I love reloading for obscure rounds. The looks you get from other hunters when hunting with them in the US are priceless. Just like I love using my 2" & 2 1/2" 12 gauge doubles pheasant hunting next to the others with their 3" mag autos. Almost makes them mad that 1 to 1 1/8 ounce of good #6 shot will kill so effectively on ditch chickens. Plus, it never hurts to hunt with a handsome firearm. ______________________ Guns are like parachutes. I guess I am a hijacker too. Chopper Guy, tell me more about your 30-06 Krieghoff double. How does it shoot with different bullets. If you change ammo does it make a big difference. It is it scoped? How far would you feel comfortable taking game with it? As a hunting rifle do you feel it is superior or inferior to a similar bolt rifle, ie comparing iron sighted rifles to iron sighted rifles or if scoped to a scoped bolt rifle. Since the 308 is my favorite light rifle caliber I would love to have a double in 308. Wish Chapuis made one. Krieghoff and Blaser do. I think a two barrel set of 375 and 308 would be a good combo for me. [I have a lot of 308 and 375 brass around ]. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I've got a 95 with 2 barrels 222 and 3006. both hold impact point when changed around and both shoot well sub minute. I did restock the rifle because of the rather plain walnut stock it came with (I'm a sucker for fancy wood). One little thing though - the scope mounts are unique to that rifle and if I remember right over 250.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the scope mounts for the K95 the same as the R93?

M16 Yes, the same scope mount fits all of the current Blaser hunting rifles, drillings and doubles included. It is an excellent mount, it goes back to zero 100%. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
