Welcom!

You've found the best place on the net to discuss big bores. The members run the gammut of target shooters, experimentors, developers of new big bores, and hard core dangerous game hunters, not to mention the occasional juvenile delinqant and escaped mental patient.

So, what big bores do you shoot?

fla3006,
Your pa sure didn't name you "Sue."
You must be real hard core if you were getting Elmer's autograph almost 38 years ago. No wonder you have so many fine pieces if you have been at it that long.
Cheers!

Deciple & Dr. Ron, thanks for the kind words.

I didn't know Keith though, just bought a book from him back when I was into Colt single actions. I also have a 338-378KT he had a hand in building. And Ron, I believe it was about 28 years ago. Oh, and the 600 nitro Westley Richards pictured above isn't mine either, unfortunately.

Cheers Paul I think that I come under the escaped mental inmate heading (I'm sure MATRON will tell me when she gives me my medication) These days the only 'Business' Rifle I still own is my Marlin .4570 as I dont shoot camels at the presant time but that can change! I for many years used .375H&H's & 458win's on various actions As I shoot for a living.I'm also the proud Father of a brace of.44 Super Blackhawkes which help to keep me poor MadI also played round with a .47o nitro for some years that a unsepecting gunsmith put together for me on a Ruger No1 action(after relising what he'd done he retired to a monestry and took a vow of silence,in the hope of forgivness) These days most of my work is with a .22hornet or .223 so my ......45.70 is for theropudic shooting only nut

Fla3006 THERE IS NO SUCH TERM AS NOT MINE where a .600nitro is concerned it is when I get my .600 nitro, WHEN YOU GIVE ME 'YOUR .600nitro or when you die can I have your .600nitro .Look all you do is sell your kids to your friendly White slave trader (if you havent got kids sell somebody elses) then use the proceeds to purchace said .600!!!! Yes I know the Wife will ask about the lack of children but hey just say Bugger the kids look at my new rifle gunsmileNow speaking from exp she will get very pissed unless you speak very quickley Point out to her that(a) a.600 dose'nt eat you out of house &home (b) dose"nt come home at all hours of the night(c)if the first two fail tell her you"ve made a spare room for her Mother! (please use step 'C' as a last resort Big Grin

The 600 was available in Vegas 2 years ago by Neal Smith for $57K, alot of dough but a decent price for that particular gun given its uniquity, historical significance, snob appeal, replacement cost, etc. I tried all the things you suggested except for (c) but it still didn't fly.

Good to see another Australian here who does not think the 338 Winchester is some sort of cannon.

Although as Paul H said this site is the home of the big bores and many of the other forums packed with Americans mainly have people who hit the wall at 300 Winchester.

fla3006,
Doh! Elmer's autograph got me so excited that my arithmetic was off by a decade. As you were.
There should be a Westley Richards droplock double in every home, in the best of all possible worlds. (sigh)
