I have an email into Mike Brady, but was wondering if anybody on the forum worked up a load using his 450gr softpoint and the Lott? If so, what/how much powder, velocity, loading tips, etc... Thanks!

A good stiff shot of IMR-4320 should do the trick..Its the best powder for the 458 Lott by a long shot..or at least from the velocity stand point and it was always accurate in my 458 Lotts...I'd start at 84 grs. and work up a little from there. I am guessing that 86 or 87 is max, but thats just an educated guess.

Thanks Ray. I have a box of NF's on order, plus a few of Mike's 450gr flat-nose solids to see if they feed okay. I'll post results.

I have heard tell that Rel15 is an excellent choice as well. ASS_CLOWN

There are many good powders for the Lott, but IMR-4320 will always give you the most velocity by about 100 FPS if that is important to you...It will get you 2350 FPS with a 500 gr. bullet, I could not find another powder that would do that within safty margin. The best article on reloading for the 458 Lott is in Rifle no. 135, dated May-June 1991 by G. Sitton...My results were the same as reported in that very accurate article, as I used it as a guide when I built my first 458 Lott.
