Ghost- 40Kpsi in a Pedesoli- WoW- That's pushing it my friend. I've got a Shioh sharps in 45-110 that I used for years in Sihloette and never pushed it anywhere near that. I'd be very afraid of frame stretch at that pressure level. The sidewalls would be my concern. We shot out to 500 yrds regularly and I never needed more power. In fact my loads were generally on the wimpy side. I did buy a Corbin swage die and paper patched for years. In fact some of my most accurate loads were with paper patched Swaged bullets. Those guns are lots of fun, but I would not push one. Get a Ruger #1 if you want hot 45-70 loads.-Rob

Rob, Good to here from you! That "high pressure" post was from the "Dane", not me. It looked dangerous to me as well. I am not wanting to set any new pressure records here. I am just looking for some first hand information on SAFE smokeless loads for this particular rifle with cast 460-500gr bullets. Any thoughts you can add would be much appreciated because I know I can trust your input. Thanks again for the help on the 450 Ackley extraction problems. Your WW760 load is shooting MOA at 100yds and I can heat my barrel up with fast shots and still not stick cases. Your my hero!!! Thanks, Ghost

Rob, Most of the data I am finding is broken down into 3 categories... Trapdoors, Leverguns(light bullets), and Ruger #1. Do I want to stay with the Trapdoor loading pressures? Again, I want to shoot heavy cast bullets w/smokeless powder. Thanks, Ghost

Timberghost- Glad the 450 Ackley load data worked well for you. I would only provide data I know works! I'd load the Pedersoli a lil hotter than the trapdoor myself. I had alot of fun with 28 grs of 2400 with dacron over a 545 gr RCBS cast bullet. Another hotter load was 50 grs of IMR3031 with the same bullet. I use SPG lube on all the cast bullets. The 2400 load is mild, but deadly accurate.-Rob

Well, I'm off to the reloading bench now . Many thanks to Rob, Brent, and all others for their input. Between your thoughts and a day of research on the net, I think I have a good starting place now. I will post my findings in a few weeks. Thanks again, Ghost
