chuck375470 Capstick vs 500 Jeffery vs 505 Gibbs
I've got a CZ 550 in 375 H&H I'm planning to rebarrel next winter. Any suggestions pros/cons? I was thinking of going to 470 Capstick but it seems like a shame to build that on a true magnum length mauser-variant action.
Thanks in advance,
Chuck

jeffeossoon a CZ, if you want the MAX, do either a 470mbogo or 550 Magnum.
THe capstick is "merely" a rebarrel away

chuck375Hi Jeffeosso, I don't really want the MAX, just an anchoring rifle that I can shoot a few hundred rounds a year so I can get comfortable with itand take elk and bear hunting while I'm saving up for Africa. I want more power than the 375 H&H and the 458 Lott just doesn't do it for me.

gumboot458Nice thing about the 470 Capstick , you can blast away with pistol bullets . To me that makes a rifle alot more fun to play with .
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

MacifejI'd do the 505 Gibbs if it were me but you could buy a new CZ in 505 off the rack for less money than a proper conversion. So that would leave me to conclude the 470 Mbogo is the best option.

chuck375The .495 A-Square looks interesting as well. I like it's case shape with the ghost shoulder (much like the 470 Capstick). It can launch a 600g bullet at 2150 fps at reasonable pressures which is all I really will ever need.

500grains500 A2 is ideal for a CZ550. 470 mbogo is a nice one too.
