What muzzle velocity {FPS} should be expected from Woodliegh 350GR projectiles from a .375 Flanged Magnum? Thanks, Adam C.

In a flanged magnum, I suspect 1900 would be about tops, you would be much better off with a 270 gr. or 300 gr. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

ozhunter, There are two .375s that use a rimmed case. One is straight walled and 2.5" in length. (.375 Flanged Nitro Express) Using a 350gr bullet in such a short case would be futile. I think the original data for the cartridge indicated a 285gr bullet at about 1900fps. The second is the .375 Flanged Magnum Nitro Express which originated in 1912 as a rimmed twin of the .375 H&H and was also available from Holland & Holland. Case length is 2.94" as opposed to the 2.85" of the .375 H&H. Depending on the strength of the rifle, it would probably be prudent to stay more or less within the parameters of the original spec for the cartridge which was a 300gr bullet at about 2500fps. Who is the manufacturer of your rifle and how old is it? (The proofmarks should give an indication of what it can handle safely)
