Big Wonderful Wyoming458 Monometal light weights
Do any of you guys have experience with the Hornady mono-metal bullets designed for the 450 Bushmaster in your 458 Lot or 458 Winchester or similar at similar speeds?
I was thinking it would be a neat way to use your big gun year round.

jeffeossoMan, I've shot most .458 bullets -- from about 200gr up to 600... if you are looking for a cheap bullet to shoot game with, the rem 405 can NOT be beaten in NA .. it's cheap, it's accurate, and if you don't like the same, $200 bucks buys you dies and punches to change. 2300fps is past the designed construction of the bullet, but 2000 does a bang up job on deer, pigs, and large game...
and did i mention the word cheap, available, and cheap?

Jgrabow6493The 450 Bushmaster Hornady bullets are .452 diameter. I would think you would want to shoot the 45-70 Government Hornady bullets .458 Diameter.

hogfarmerBe aware that the Hornady 250 grain bullets for the 450 Bushmaster are .452". Hornady does make a .458" version as well, just don't confuse them.

Big Wonderful WyomingThanks gents,
Good to know.
Midway sorted me out on that, you can sort bullet sizes down to .458.
Barnes X 300 grain looks really good.

Charles_HelmI had these loaded for a special project. Tang safety Ruger .458 that I wanted my daughters to be able to shoot. Barnes 250 grain TSXFN at 2000 FPS. Was too tied up to get it out last year, am hoping to throw some of these at some pigs this spring if the weather cooperates.

They generally start to run when the gunpowder goes off!
