i know its been a few years since i had a whitworth 375, but when i look at the picture of the kimber caprivi in the rifleman magazine, it sure looks alot like my old whitworth. Come to think of it I traded the whitworth off on a kimber.

Butchloc, IMO, the Whitworth has been field tested and proven over the past decades so that would be my choice. Asthetically speaking the Kimber looks great and they put out a good product, I personally have seen some issues with quality lately and had to return a new rifle for re-barreling, etc. "An individual with experience is never at the mercies of an individual with an argument"

yeah, but your Whitworth was a Magnum action, and I'll bet it wasn't nearly $3200. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

I was not one bit impressed by the Kimber in the latest Rifleman. Looked like something from WalMart. I would far rather own a Whitworth regardless of price. JMHO. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

Look at it this way; for the same $$$ you can have a CZ in 375H&H AND one in 505 Gibbs. Or four CZ 375's. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

Interesting read in the American rifleman. Author stated it would eject empties from the rifle well but did not address the fact the action may not eject loaded rounds. I think he side stepped the issue to give the rifle a positive read. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I read that too, seems you have to tilt a loaded round to get it into the magazine and your right about him not saying it would eject a loaded round. Sounds like they didn't want to invest in a long action and if so they would have been better off chambering it for the 375 Ruger. A loaded round you can't get out of the chamber do to a misfire isn't something you want on a dangerous game rifle.

srt, that's easy...just take the bolt out to unload the rifle...of course it is pretty chicken-shirt! What can you expect for a piddling $3200? Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

Good observation, I missed that one. A missfire/jam will always be at the wrong time (when else). Sort of takes it out of the relm of dangerous game rifle I would think. My CZ 375 looks better with each post Jim "Bwana Umfundi" NRA

I was wondering what the author meant by “First dangerous game rifleâ€. I have a Kimber model 89 BGR in .375H&H. This rifle does have controlled feed and will eject a loaded round. True it doesn’t have “express sights†but I can’t see them that well any way The 1.5X5 Leapold works just great. it seems like more of a defective rifle than a big game rifle. What can you expect? Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

The Kimber rifle will eject live rounds without a problem. As with most bolt action rifles the rear of the magazine sits behind the rear bridge a slight bit. The rounds pivot out with plenty of clearence. Winchesters are the same way. If you make the ejection port longer you would have a problem with mounting a scope because the distance would be too great. The Kimber is designed to take up to the 470 Capstick. Headace
