I ran across a model B for sale at $6500, and would like any input on what is to be gained for another $3000 and 8-10 months for a new PH model. Thanks.

I think it is the same gun with no metal engraving. It only marked with " B Search and CO, Boron CA". Butch made just a few of them 3 years ago. Other than that no difference. He sold them for $6500 new and that was a great buy. I bought one! ****************************************************************** R. I have a model B (based on the serial number). I'd have guessed it is slightly cobbier that the Ph and has none of the line engraving found on the PH. Worth 3 grand and 10 months ... wasn't for me. My model B is a GREAT working gun. It has been very, very accurate <2 or less at 100 yards! Would love to see the PH and the model B side by side. Well, I have bought my first double rifle! I spoke with Butch Searcy, and these were built on Browning BSS actions before he was making his own actions. A good, solid working rifle. It even has chopper lump barrels, which is now a $4000 options on the new ones! This will be going on my first buffalo hunt in Zimbabwe in about 12 weeks, and I'm jazzed. Do any of you have any suggested practice loads?

Am I overlooking the caliber designation - or was that detail (un)intentionally left out?? Congrats on your new toy! Buffs beware! - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Marty, Have come to the conclusion based on your description of the action and the loads that Butch provided, that my BL00xx Searcy is not the B series but something between that and the PH. I expect it really is the cobbier but strong action. Would still love to see pics of the three actions together. Marty, I have a friend that has a Searcy on the Browning BSS action. His rifle is heavily engraved along with several gold animals. I have shot it and it shoots good. As a practice load I would get some 350 grain Hawk bullets [www.hawkbullets.com] with the .032jacket and start out with 75 grains of IMR 3031. Your rifle should regulate somewhere around 80 to 81 grains. Velocity will be around 2300 to 2400fps. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
