I have a M-1999 Montana Rifle Co. in 416 Hoffman cal. that I purchased from Cabelas last year. It was built in 2013. I only bought it because it came with a 1-6x24mm Leupold VX-6 w/ "Circle-Fire-Dot" reticle scope w/ Leupold QD Lever Rings & Bases, and it was priced a little over the value of the scope and QD mounts alone. Overall the quality and fit and finish are great. BUT - if the action is worked with "straight-back" pull on the bolt handle, everything is fine and it functions smoothly. However, if you have any "up-pressure" on the bolt handle as you are trying to pull back and open the bolt, it binds, and the bolt won't come back. This would be a real problem in the field if you were in "panic-mode" and didn't remember to "only pull straight back" on the bolt handle. I haven't yet investigated this issue, and hope its nothing too serious. But, it would keep me from buying another MRC rifle in the future, without trying it first. buckstix, Maybe you should put a drop of oil on that bolt, and/or see a personal trainer about some strengthening of your right upper extremity, assuming that the rifle is RH. ![]() I have not been able to duplicate your rifle's problem with my new X2-SS-RH M1999 rifle from MRC, even though it is a "26 Nolser." I have not lubricated it either. Nor am I very strong. ![]() Seriously, and I do mean this: Please do tell of any findings related to the tricky bolt action when possible. ![]() Rip ... | |||
