Folks, since it doesn't seem to have been mentioned here yet, Lee have some interesting custom production FCD overruns available just now. http://leeprecision.com/custom...-crimp-die-overruns/ Including .404J [someone was looking for one not long ago], .500J, .505G and .577NE [case length not stated for the latter]. Also .378 and .460 Wby. Cheers, Doug

I had one made for me in 500J by sending Lee a once fired case. It is absolutely essential as far as I'm concerned Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"

Thanks for the pointer, Gadge. Very useful. Maybe I can use the 500 Jeffery crimper on the 500 Bateleur as well as the 500 Mbogo. .408 Chey-Tac ready to go is great, and .416 Barrett, and so many more ...

So popular it sold out. Back to special order or wait for another overrun production.

Anyone have an idea of how the handgun FCD's with "collet" differ from their regular FCD's? I don't quite get what makes the .44 Mag die different and custom. ...and thanks very much for sharing! -John

They had a 500 Nitro crimp die available a few months back but since it was made for a special large press with larger threads I passed.

BNagel, I'd take that .300 Win FCD if you still have it. Please let me know where to send funds and I'll PM you my address. Thank you, John

the HG FCDs don't use the sprung fingers to radially crimp the brass, instead, they use small constriction in the die body, like a roll crimp, but shallower. the brass is constricted inwards, but only so far. it won't squeeze the brass in so far that a rimless round won't still headspace on the mouth. and, because the die is machined so that the crimp can only be so tight, the case may be run up in the die as far as you need, without buckling the case. the regular HG FCD is thus, like the sprung-finger type used for rifles, more length-tolerant than a roll-crimp is.

BNagel, I'd like the 30/06 and 270 dies if they're still available. Let me know where to send the cash. Forrest ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

I got a 404 Jeffery too, and a .375 RUM, the former for proper 404 Jeffery use, the latter to see if it also does any good on a .375/404 Jeffery Saeed of 2013. Might be needed for use of Hornady 404 Jeffery brass instead of Norma 404 Jeffery brass, in both cartridges. Hornady brass might have a bit thinner neck wall thickness than Norma in 404 Jeffery. Glad I did not hesitate.

The .408 Chey-Tac I ordered got canceled and refunded, their mistake, unknown future availability. But I got 4 others I ordered ...

Thanks Chuck. Just had her out today to check zero w/ Hornady DGXs & DGS. Except for one shot I pulled, both Horn loads hit a life-size black bear target spot-on @ 50yds (POA = POI), and were about right @ 100yds. Have some reloading components for it already; others are in-bound and should be here next week. "Only accurate rifles are interesting."
