I am going to try some hard cast bullets from cast performance bullet company in my 45/70 and was wondering what type of bore cleaner would be best . Thanks Tanoose

Any good solvent will do provided that the cast bullets are sized .001 over bore dia. If proper dia. bullets are used, the only leading would be some smears here and there. The lubricant will be culprit in making your bore dirtier than hell. BTW, is your barrel smooth enough, what cal. are you shooting?

Tanoose..

Hard cast bullets with gas checks shouldn't create a leading issue that can't be easily handled. I only use Hoppes and Kroil and a stiff bronze brush after using the same brand of bullets.

Some folks claim that lead bullets mixed with jacketed will create a problem, as the lead supposedly builds up more on copper streaks, etc.
