Question About Recoil Lug on Talley CZ/602 mounts ? Login/Join

I was looking at my Talley CZ 550/602 mounts the other day, and I was examining them and I noticed two things.

1. The recoil Lug did not fill the whole slot on my 602 action, it is not the rifle as on my other two cz 550's it did not either, yet the warne lugs do. This means there is room for forwards and backwards movement.

2. They are QD's and the little rectangle of metal that sits infront of the lever on the front ring seems to be not quite high enough and it does not sit flush with the main body of the ring. It means to ensure the little claw engages the groove properly I need to hold it in to the receiver groove and tighten the lever at the same time to ensure it does not tilt back and make the scope sit crooked.

Do others have these features on there Talley QD's or are they a little out ??

PC, I have a Leupold 2.5x Compact in a pair of Talley CZ 550 lever QD rings sitting next to me right now.

You're right, the recoil lug doesn't completely fill the notch in the receiver bridge. When you're attaching the scope, make sure the lug is snugly up against the front of the notch. Then it can't move anywhere under recoil.

I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what you're describing about the front ring.... Mine seems to be just fine. Could you possibly post a picture of this? I've *never* heard of a defective Talley ring, but there's a first time for everything...

Best,
Joe

Next Joe,

I do not have a digital camera this weekend, but I might be able toborrow works for an evening next week.

The ring is not defective, thats fine. It's the little claw that falls free if you completely remove the lever of the front ring. When tigtened the small claw does not fit flush with the ring. It does not seem as high as the little claw on the rear ring.

It's sort of hard to describe, like you said a phot is the only way. But basicall because the small claw does not have enough width to fit flush in the front ring, any pressure from the lever makes it tilt or kind of slip as it is not high enough to rest completely in the ring.

It is not the ring thats defective if anything is not right it's just the little claw.

Am I making sense [Big Grin]

PC, if I read you correctly, try turning the claw over...I think it is on upside down.
