Thanks all. I just moved the scope forward about 1/2" to clear the lens from under the rings. It still feels like I'm pushing my face forward a bit to shoot it but I guess I can get used to it. One thing I notice about seeing the front site in the scope is that I didn't have the crosshairs perfectly vertical when I first set the scope up.

I have cracked TWO objective lenses on Leupy 1.5-5Xs, so either take it easy on those Torx screws or keep it forward! Charlie

Proper stock fit will help you a bunch...You should crawl the stock a bit, most good shots I know do this, they lean into the gun and crawl the comb a bit...If you pull your head back it sets up tension in the shoulders I have been told, don't know because I crawl a stock about as bad as one can crawl a stock..I have been accused of trying to get inside the scope.... A proper stock on a big bore should be a tad longer than a stock on a meduim or small bore...probably why I tend to crawl a stock.

EVERY scoped rifle I shoot has the scope pushed all the way forward to where the rear bell is te stopping point and it just can't go forward anymore. Couple of things this does, but primarily gives you more stability in shooting positions having to "crawl" vs shooting in a "standoff" type position. second, IF there comes a time when you have to make one of those "I never practised this hot before" shots, because the deer came out on the wrong sideand you have to shoot over your left shoulder, right handed but have to use your left eye for sighting, you WILL appreciate having the extra clearance from the eyepiece.(yes it DID cut me but not as badly as it would have for a .300Winmag.) third, it Will force you to get more "into" the gun to get the proper sight picture then just sitting with your neck up straight of sorts.(back to crawling the gun) 4th, ever try a prone shot with a scope set "back" vs set "forward"? In the field if you can get a prone shot you want to take it. I have seen scope set back so far, to get a sight picture from the prone you couldn't even have the but secured into your shoulder. ("BUT it worked from the bench") these days my trick is getting it set far enough forward as the eyes get a little "tired".

Thanks gentlemen, you too Ray. My normal shooting position is with my head straight up not because I'm pulling my head back but because that's how my head, neck and shoulder fit most stocks. Pushing the scope forward to a more normal position makes me push my face forward and like you say, "lean into the stock" This also seems to magnify felt recoil for me. I think it's more a matter of stock fit than anything else. I find that the old military pattern stocks with the horrendous drop at the heel and comb fit my shooting style the best. This 375 is just something that I'll have to get used to.
