Hi Peeps Just downloaded the 375 H+H with 40gn RL7 220gn Hornady FP. The MV is 1971 fps and energy 1998 fpe. Zero @ 25m and 100 beyond that she drops like a brick. Consider it a massive 243 The lower shot is the initial sighter which I always take at 25m. the next two ie zero are @ 25 and 100m. Very accurate round so no need to shoot groups for this excercise. To go to full power load just add 8 clicks up - what could be simpler Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

OFS! FWIW, Hornady and Speer have several downloaded recipes using their 220 and 235 grain bullets, respectively. This load is classic. Many thanks.

Mark, I think you have done this exactly right. Not to mention that you have a terrific load for whitetail, and very little felt recoil if you rifle is of sufficient weight.

Cheer Guys. Here in the UK the response was just - 'why'. Its a pity they are not as open minded about calibre versatility as yourselves. Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

Not much! Looks like a winner, I may even try it out. I've never considered reduced loads in my H+H before. I use 5744 in my 375H&H and 416 Rigby. 50gr under a 300gr. Hrn RN gets you about 2200 in the H&H. 55gr under a Speer 350gr. gets you about 2000 in the Rigby. That's a M70 w/ 24" tube and a RSM w/ 23" tube, respectively. Those are the max. charges recommended by Accurate BTW. The H&H recoils like a 270 and the 416 like a lightish '06. Very accurate as well. David

I just notice that target is CM, not inches. Impressive, yes, like a big 243. So it is true; all one needs is a 375H&H

I use my 375 H&H on East Texas deer and find it very enjoyable. The deer don't seem to recognize that they have been hit by a sub-2000 fps bullet. I also down-scale loads for my .348 Winchester model 71. Enjoy that just as much. All my E-TX hunting is where shots are under 100 yards.
