Now i think i know,

The bigger bullet diameter the bigger wound channels the faster dead for the animal.

And the bullet velocity dont do the wound channels bigger than the epanded bullet diameter.

If you shoot a moose at 60 yards with a 7mm rem mag. And the same shoot with a 6,5 x 55 it is a similar effect. Because the 6,5 x 55 will expand to 14 mm and the 7 mm to maybe 15-16 mm and the higer velocity of the 7 mm rem mag would not do a bigger wound channel than 16-17 mm. It will be just the same effect.

I thing that assumption will only be "true" with certain game animals. A 378 Weatherby and 260 grain Nosler Ballistic tips will probably have a more devastating effect on a deer than a getting a perfect hole punched through it with 458 Lott and a 500 grain solid would. The reverse might be true on a moose.

Regardless, my personal feeling is that with the exact same bullet placement it will take the animal the pretty well the same amount of time to die. The use of a big caliber with a heavy bullet, or a more frangible bullet at extreme high velocity, will have more devastating visual effect on different game animals (will vary with either choice), but the end result won't be a lot different. The animals brain function will cease when it has been deprived of oxygen long enough. Might happen on the ground or on the run, but the length of time won't vary a heck of a lot.

But heck, I'm no expert. As long as I can make a good shot and a clean kill, a few seconds either way won't bother me.

You have right on that thing. That if you use a Nosler ballistics tips in a 378 wby at high velocity then it is effective on small game like deer. But if you shoot the same shoot at a 300-350 kg moose then the effect isn�t going to be god because it is going to explode before it gets to the vital part in the moose.

On moose i think that explosive bullets isn�t any god. And then the best caliber for moose will be the biggest bullet diameter....!

Don't forget about the effect of hydrostatic shock and of secondary projectiles like bone fragments. These 2 factors can cause a tremendous amount of damage outside the wound channel. Just my 2 cents worth.
