Hi Guys: My latest project started over a year ago. I bought a used Win Model 70 Classic, S/S 375 H&H Mag from one of our AR members. It had a sort of funky muzzle break, like a round can hooked on the end of the barrel. To make a long story short, I had the break modified, the trigger job was all ready done. I ordered a stock from Boyds and added a few custom touches of my own. I had double cross bolts added to the stock. I bought some nice ebony and added a forend cap, and a sharper pistol grip cap. Naturally it was pillar bedded, and inletted for recoil. I also replaced the Boyds recoil pad with a Pachmyr pad. It has a heavy barrel, so a custom full barrel band had to be made. You would not believe how long this little item took or cost. Since the gun was stainless steel, I added Leupold S/S mounts, and a 3X10 Leupold Vari XIII. I had to pin the back mount to the base because it kept on ripping the mount off the base when I was test firing the rifle with the tubberware stock. There is about 12 coats of this clear finish, I think they use it on the bottom of boats. It is damn near indestructible, I wanted the beauty of wood and the durability of fiberglass. I also plan on taking this one to Alaska some day. Oh and by the way, with my handloads, and the plastic stock, this puppy was shooting over 2700 FPS with Swift Aframe 270 grain and SUB 1/2 in. MOA.... no BS. I just hope it shoots as well with the new stock. So Take a look see and tell me what you think. Now if I can figure out these damn picture @#$%^&*(* again. Finally I figured it out.. Well, what do ya think???

First, you must copy the URL of your photo. This is not always the URL in your address bar; some photo hosting sites will have your photo's URL in a different place. Then, click the 'image' button in the 'Instant UBB Code' table below, and paste your photo's URL. If you still cannot get it to work, you can send me the url in a PM, and I will try to post it for you. George

Jim, that rifle ought to work out quite nicely for Alaska. What does it weigh with the laminated stock? George

Congrats- Anything that shoots 1/2 MOA is a keper. out of curiousity Does it cloverleaf the rounds on target? I've always treasured a gun when that occurs and .375 H&H's seem to do it more often than other calibers IMHO.-Rob

Hi George: The Boyds Laminate is a bit heavier than the tubberware stock that was on the rifle. The whole rifle weighs exactly 10 lbs. with the scope and mounts. I cut two inches off the front forend of the stock before I added the ebony. The two inch shorter forearm looks much better with the short barrel of only 21.5 inches. And the ballance is damn near perfect for me at the middle of the crossbolts. I am taking this to Africa with me in June of this year. I will take it as a backup for my 300 RUM. Maybe I will use the 375 H&H on a Elan. Mr Spots gets the 180 grn Nosler from the RUM. Regards... Jim P.

Hi Rob: It did cloverleaf them. When I finally worked up my handload, I loaded up about 40 rounds. I went to the range with my Chrony hooked up and fired two sets of three shots. One set was good and the other was all over the target. When I looked at the scope, I saw that it pulled up out of the rear Leupold mount. I went home tightened everything down again, and went back to the range. I fired three quick shots, when I looked through the 20 X 60 Spotting scope I saw only one hole. I figured I would have to start all over because the other two shots were not even on the target. You guessed it. All three shots went into one hole. I then proceeded after the gun cooled a bit to shoot three more sets of three shots. All were cloverleafs and SUB 1/2 MOA @ 100 yards. And this is a STOCK Winchester Barrel. The trigger was done before I bought the rifle and I had the bolt trued, and that was it. This has never happened to me before with a stock rifle, especially a used one to boot. Now I will have to see how she shoots with the new stock. Those plastic stocks seem to have some pressure at the end of the forearm, we shall see. As soon as it warms up. These zero degree temps suck. Regards... Jim P.
