Ruger RSM Lott weight Login/Join

In one of the topics someone said that the newer RSM's are closer to the cataloged weight of 9.75 pounds. Can some of you weigh your RSM Lotts and report back? I previously sold one because it was almost 11 pounds...a beautiful rifle but at least a pound too heavy. My only other complaint is how much wood they have in the action area...she's a little wide.

My RSM in 458Lott comes in at 10 lbs. on the nose w/ NECG peep sight. Same rifle in 375HH a couple ounces heavier(barrel wall thickness, stock wood density???)

I don't have my 416 right now, or I'd weigh it. The 458 should be slightly lighter. To my knowledge they use the same barrel profile with a larger bore. I thought the Ruger website showed the 416 at 9.5 and the 458 at 9.25. That would sound about right. But I'm not sure that the 416 isn't more like 10. I know when I dropped it off with Roger and picked up my M70 in 375, it was like picking up nothing. But I suspect that may have something to do with the overall size of the RSM versus the relatively trim lines of the M70. I think the M70 was listed as weighing 8.8 pounds and it weighed roughly 10 all up. I do like my RSM, but this M70 sure does handle nicely.

My older RSM weighs a little more than 10.5 without a scope. But it has been re-bored out to .475" Smiler The weight is kinda nice for a 470 Mbogo. thumb

Cheers,
Canuck

just weighed mine this rifle is 3 yers old not sure if this qualifies as one of the older models but it is out of the box just under 9.5 lbs. I also have a 375 with warne rings and variX-7 1.5-6 comes in at 11 1/4 lbs.
Hope this helps

Jason, yours are the lightest I am aware of. That 375 is particularly light as weighed with scope and rings. It must be almost as light as your Lott.

Yes, that's about what mine weighed. That wood density must vary quite a bit.

I just weighed mine (again, but it had been about a year and wanted to be sure IRC), and it is exactly 11 lbs even, wearing a Leupy M8 3x scope.

So, the re-bore must have removed a 1/4 lb or so. (?) Seems a little high, but like you say, maybe it is wood density.

Cheers,
Canuck
