Well guys, so excited I had to tell all ya'll. some of you know what's coming because you saw my post on the classifieds asking if I should buy it.

this morning I gave a guy $600 dollars and started paperwork on a Winchester Classic Safari Express. he bought it august of last year and had never fired it, in fact I think he had never put the bolt in it before! I found no blemishes on finish or stock anywhere. I saw this in the local free paper and thought maybe it was just push feed or something beat up for the price he was asking. Nope, it is perfect, matte finish, barrel band sling swivel, hooded front site (looks like ivory bead?) adjustable rear, CRF. And he gave me two boxes of Federal ammo for it, 270grain! So including the 30 dollar fee for the transfer I got the whole thing for $630!!!!

I am excited guys, aside from my 458 this is my only other big bore (well, 45/70 too). but the first gun I have ever bought that wasn't "used".

I get it in 10 days, and will take some pics then and post them and let you all know how it shoots.

I got to ask how can you wait 10 days for the new toy. I am just glad that I changed my mind about moving to CA a few years back. Anyhow, hope you will have it soon and look forward to seeing some pictures. Thanks.

Sadly I am used to the waiting period. I know, that really sucks. it's all right though, give me something to look forward to. :-)

Good deal on a Win Safari express! Always nice to get a new rifle! I assume it is a 375?? The 10 day wait would kill me!

Yes, 375H&H. It is very hard to wait, but better actually, as I have no room left in the safe and need to find a soluction. I guess I could get one of the 9 rifles in there that aren't mine taken back. (my mom and stepdad, uncle and two brothers have rifles in my safe :-)

I have this same rifle (I'm assuming it's in 375 H&H) and to say I like it would be an understatement. If I had to have just one rifle/caliber this would be IT!

It's got lotsa power and the recoil is Slooow and a push rather than a sharp JAB like a 300 WinMag or 7mm RemMag. I'm sure you'll like shooting it and you might even find you'll grab it to shoot over the 458 WinMag (I also own one of these) time and time again.

I also have a .375 in the left hand Safari Express. Love the big square inch butt and stock design, makes it plesant to shoot. Great round too!
