Guys, Any new info on the IZH MP 221 SxS double rifle to be imported by EAA? There are specs on the EAA web site, but not mention of availability. Calibers are listed to be 223, 270, 7.62 x 39R, 308, 30-06 and 45-70. As I have a 470 NE Searcy, I'd sure like to see this one in 9.3 x 74R.

Mike, I've spoken with them several times.. they are waiting for the "annex list" of some treaty to be updated... with Russia selling tech to iraq, they aint in a hurry. They are saying feb at the soonest, expect june. as for calibers, I spoke to a nice enough fella there that said "we'll be just pleased as hell if we get THESE in, but I hear what you are saying on the 9,3" So, in a nutshell, I'll be frickin tickled to mine in 45/70.. and if they ever offer barrels, a 22hornet (also offered) I wonder if any of our european friends can get these things? and report on it. I want one, bad.. i'll then determine if it can go to 450 ne2, or 45/rcbs jeffe

I had a long conversation with the folks at EAA in regards to calibre choice. They can build the 9,3x 74R on all of their frames they are waiting for the market to create the demand. They feel they can sell more 30 06 and .45 -70's than anything else. In regards to the action strength no one really has a clue we were thinking of a .450 No. 2 on ours. I guess I will be in line like everyone else. I think we should all go to the EAA booth at the SHOT show to remind them about our desire for these funny Russian guns Aleko
