Got my dies and brass yesterday and loaded up some 385gr custom turned solids used in my 10.75. I compared it to a 300H&H and the overall design is very similar, except for the belt, that is. Long, sloping shoulder to a long neck. If the .404 feeds as nicely as the M70 300H&H I will be most satisfied. Should have the 404 bbl/action in my hands by the end of next week.

So, sleepless nights for a while.

Post a pic of 385gn solids you have. The only feeding issue is with the feeding ramp shape to initiate the nose lift of the traditional round nose shape, and the more modern flat nose, but once that is sorted the cartridge shape is perfect for slick feeding.

We do expect lots of pics of this rifle as it comes together.

300 H&H is a lot more tapered in the body. The 404 is quite a parallel body.
