Nice gun, way out of my budget. As in divide by 100. Seems a bit of a waste, to make a gun so fancy that its unlikely to ever see much use. I wonder how much of that 6 figure price is art and how much is gun.
A shame something like this could not be mass produced as a shooter. You think some 3rd world country could cobble together a single shot. Perhaps if not a 4 then something using industrial 8 gauge shells.

Indeed a masterpiece, a rifle like that deserves to shine and take some of the Worlds finest game. Thought I'd offer a kidney but then it's pretty well washed . Very beautiful work of art and a fine tool. Enjoyed the images. Rodney.

The # 5 Ken Owen 4 bore Mastodon has hunted Africa at least 3 times and taken several big game animals. I know that Butch Searcy charges 85000 for a minimally engraved boxlock 4 bore and 95000 for a minimally engraved 4 bore sidelock.I believe Peter Haumbraush in Ferlacker Austria charges right at 128,000 for a 4 bore with minimal engraving. The engraving alone on this gun retails in the 15000 to 20000 dollar mark. It took a little over 3 hundred hours to be fully engraved. While the gun is expensive, I think it is priced accordingly with other quality 4 bores. Few 4 bores are a true 1.025" diameter as Ken Owens are. Most English 4 bores are actually more like a true 6 bore diameter. measurement.
Unless the original owner is dead, I have a hard time understanding why someone would go through the expense of having such an heirloom item made just to turn around and sell it after a while.

You would have to ask SAFARI KID, it was his rifle, before I obtained it from him. I am willing to part with it, because I am fortunate to currently own 2 Ken Owen 4 bore doubles and really only need to keep one of them for myself. Safari Kids was the fifth one made, and I got #6 made which was Kens last 4 bore that he was making.
