Product Review: These things really work!

Not that I ever doubted it, but I have had the benefit of trying them out on 470Mbogo's .470 Mbogo and 500 A-square. I am truly amazed at how they soak up the recoil. I have put a number of rounds through both of these rifles now, and my shoulder is about the only thing that doesn't hurt! In all seriousness though, the pad definately takes all the bite out of the recoil of these cartridges. I am impressed.

Canuck:

I hope so. One is coming for the Lott, which I can tolerate with a Decelerator, but if the Triple Mag works better, I'm for that.

Canuck,

I have a Pachmayr decelerator pad on my .450 Ackley.

And I add you can wear a special jaket made by Browning for Clays shooting. This jaket is used by clays shooters who shoot more than 150 rounds of at a stretch. This jaket reduce recoil from 15 to 25 %. With these two items I can shoot without pain my .450 Ackley rounds.

Will,

I think you will be happy. I have a regular Pachmayr decelerator on my 416 Taylor, and while it is really great for that application, it doesn't compare to the Triple X (F990)in terms of ability to handle things bigger.

The Triple X works absolutely perfectly on the 470Mbogo (475/416 Rigby Improved). On the 500A2 you can feel the pad bottom out, but it still does its job very well.

Can you tell me where to get some of these F990 pads?
Can't find them in the wholesale catalog and can't think who would carry them in Edmonton.
470 Mbogo also recomended them (stongly)for my upcoming 500

Thanks Martin

Martin,

They are in the Brownell's Catalogue. I haven't found them anywhere in Canada either.

Midway might carry them too.

After having tried them out, I will of course now have to build my own 500 or 470. I can guarantee that it will sport a Triple X when its done!

Both Brownells and Midway list them.

Daryl, must've missed your post too. Yes, 470 was kind enough to let me take care of his babies while he was off soaking up some sun. They have sure grown on me, and I love them as if they were my own. I am sure there will be some tears shed when I send them home.

Canuck, if I am ever fortunate enough to find a magnum length action I will build that .470 Mbogo; I really liked that one. The .500 on the other hand might come in handy if we are invaded by Sherman tanks...

Hey, global warming, the dinosaurs are going to make a comeback, but we'll be ready. Hmmmm, do you need a T-rex for a T-rex? Plus which, you never know when you'll have to stop a charging locomotive. - Dan
