JIm YackleyNeed Help ON Caliber ID
Just returned from local gun shop, saw a Holland&Holland Mannlicher Schonauer take down. The rifle was marked Holland .375 Express. Is this a 9.5x56MS or is this a H&H .375 rimless. It is my understanding that the MS never made a magnum length action.
Jim, others more knowledgeable here will confirm, but I believe the 375 Express was a 405 Winchester necked down to 375. It is NOT a 375 H&H. I've seen a number of early British rifles chambered as such.
I think that is the velocopede belted round but I might be wrong.

craigsterBeing a MS based rifle, probably the .375 Rimless NE (2 1/4") which is the British designation for the 9.5mm MS.

NakihunterIt is definitely the 9.5X57 MS. I have seen one at H&H Manhattan which is from their collection. the young gentleman there kindly allowed me to take photos.
This is my take down rifle retailed by another British gun house - You can see the "NOT MADE IN ENGLAND" stamp on the barrel shank.
