Good idea regarding the new thread; no need to clutter up the other one. So…here are a couple more posts related to the pictured barreled action:
And from this thread: I’d like to know who did the action work as well. Jim "Life's hard; it's harder if you're stupid" John Wayne

As I said already, this is really nice looking. It will serve you very well I'm sure. I sure wish that I could work on the actions of rifles and shotguns. {And now I know what a SHROUD is!} Best regards, D'Fan

Speaking of a left-side lever safety for a right hand action… Stewart Satterlee (Satterlee Arms) makes a 3-position left side safety for the M98 Mauser: I have no idea if this could be converted for use on the CZ550 or not...but I have two of them being installed on a pair of M98 Mauser FN commercial actions. What no four panel engraving on the bolt handle? Just a few more touches! really nice action!-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

Really nice. Tough to beat the CZ/BRNO as a basis.

As oft mentioned when discussing shroud safeties should not the left mounted safety be correct for right handed shooters and the most commonly mounted right sided safety, be for left handed shooters? These set ups suit the thumb position best of right and left handed shooter respectively. Only issue I see with the left side wing safety as shown above would be when the rifle is carried on sling over the right shoulder - most likely to see the safety inadvertently disengaged quite easily?

What mods did you make to your CZ?

Let us not go overboard here. I like the safety on the right side, and I am right handed. No thanks on the left-side safety. I also find the Talley mounts to be weaker and less accurate than the standard CZ rings torqued to 65 Inch-Pounds on the main ring mounting screws: That would strip Talley, Warne, and any other rings I know of for the CZ. I also find the CZ bolt handle just fine and to my liking. I do like the LaPour safety and Timney trigger replacements to simplify the factory parts. It all has to do with simplicity, reliability, function, and most of all, accuracy. I am King Ugly Rifle.

I've never understood this business of a left side safety for a right hand shooter. The first time I heard of it, I thought it had to be a misprint. No thank you. Right side safety for me as I shoot right handed.

It’s actually somewhat natural for someone who grew up on M98 Mauser’s having the modified two position flag safety (modified for scope use). I always found it much more natural to work the two position flag safety with my thumb than working the M70 wing safety when snap shooting. I’m still trying to get used to the right side wing safety on my M77 SA Rugers. As they say, “to each their own.” Jim "Life's hard; it's harder if you're stupid" John Wayne

Yes, It may just be a "hard-wiring" thing, and I just do not want to change and then be fiddling first right then left side for the safety, for the rest of my life. And have to change all my rifles to left side? No thanks on the left-side safety.

I have for years thought about a left side safety for M 70s but came to the same conclusion as RIP Don't want to confuse my poor reflexes-they have a hard enough time as it is. SSR

The CZ-550 factory 2 position safety is fine; does not need to be changed. Factory bolt handle is also fine.

I have to ask: is the stock on that rifle original? VERY nice.
