Does anyone know a source for loading data for the .425 WR? I've looked in every source I have and came up with one load that is second hand.

THE HANDLOADERS MANUAL OF CARTRIDGE CONVERSIONS by John J. Donnelly, (a great source of info by the way!) lists a load of 80.0gr. of 4895 with a 410gr bullet and lists the source as Barnes. I believe Barnes also has a reloading manual and that they might still list this cartridge in their manual. Hope this has been of some help.

That's the only reference I have been able to find, and I would like to doublecheck it against the source. However, Barnes only makes the one monolithic solid in this size, and it is not listed in their latest manual. I suppose I will have to try and contact Barnes to confirm this. The load looks reasonable, based on the case volumn. Unfortunately, there aren't any other big bores (factory or wildcat) near enough in bore and case size to use as a start. Worst case scenario is that I would have to start at 416 Taylor or 425 Express loads and work up.

One more thought...I think GUN DIGEST had an article on the .425...not sure when, but I think it was within the last 15 years...sounds like a lot, but only 15 table of contents to look through. I will try and find it tomorrow and let you know..

The load data I have, all developed in a custom M98 Mauser using 410gr Woodleigh softpoints and CCI 250 primers.

1.) 72gr - 78gr Rel 15
2.) 70gr - 77gr IMR4064
3.) 75gr - 85gr IMR4350
4.) 65gr - 74gr IMR3031

Use this data at your own risk. Knowing the source I strongly recommend that you VERY cautiously approach the maximum loads!!!! This guy, my ex-, had a habit of blowing things up. His reloading motto, if you want to call it that, was something like this. 'You must first exceed the limit to understand were it is'. So I'll say it again - use this data at your own risk!!!

EDIT
I just saw this! This wasn't a standard 425 W-R, it was an improved version with a full .540" rim. Don't know if that really matters, but there you have it.
