I just bought one in .375. Can't wait to shoot her.

Bought one in early 2006. 1500 rounds, two dead buffalo and a variety of PG later, (and one Canadian white tail), it's my favorite rifle, and I have more expensive guns. It's just a sweet shooter and always functions flawlessly and is extremely accurate.

Is the new one a standard or magnum length action? It would be a shame if they used a magnum action on a standard length round. Seems like what they all do now.?

I suspect it's non-magnum long action. The only two mass producers of magnum Mauser actioned rifles are some Rugers and CZ. Has that changed?

My M70 SE .416 and .375 are on a longer magnum actions, about 1/2"+ longer than my standard VZ24 .458 Mark X action. I would not be surprised if they barreled it for the shorter .458 in the long action to save money and simplify manufacturing, but was curious if this was the case?

Winchester uses (or at least used to) the same size action for the 30-06 and 300 Win Mag "family" as they do for the 375, 416, 458 Lott, etc. They just change the bolt stop and open up the action a tad more for the longer rounds.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Thanks, I stand corrected. I pulled out my .338 and compared it to a .375 and I see where they lengthened the action at the rear. All other dimensions look the same.

Yep, I just put a .300H&H in the mag of my mid 90's .458 crf and it fed fine. The spacer in the back of the mag would have to come out and the bolt would have to come back a little further to fill the mag, but it looks like the action is fine for .375 length cartridges. Got me thinkin' about a Lott, although my 10.75x68 worked wonderfully on buff this year.

Yup, was going to Lott my Safari Express and had the spacer removed and bolt stop/ejecter moved. I can load to Lott length now and it feeds perfectly. It shot so good that I didn't want to mess with it before the season. I'll probably Lott it in the spring. Oh, chopped the barrel to 21", feels like a different gun.

at the rear of the action where the bolt stop is (under the rear ring mounting holes)it is machined to shortened it 3/8" to lengthen the action. Looks like a fairly easy mod.

VFR1 congrats on that. I'm interested in learning more about the particulars of it, specifically, what bullet, load, were used. Did you make a post about the topic, per chance? If so could you direct me to it? Thanks.
