Here's the choices for my CZ 416 Rigby.
Please list which combo you would choose and why.
The combo will be used in Africa someday. Cape Buffalo is definitely on the agenda.

I am a pretty big Barnes fan, but I keep graviting towards the Northforks.

Question:
Which combo?

Choices:
Barnes 350gr TSX and Banded solids
Northfork 370gr soft and CPS

If the NF flat nosed solids feed flawlessly in your bolt gun, I wouldn't shoot anything else for a solid. The softs feed great in mine, but the flats hang a bit.

All the above - I actually voted for the Northfork 370 grain soft.

In my gun (also 416 Rigby) I use the Northfork 370 grain soft and a 400 grain Barnes Banded Solid as they shoot to the same point of aim.

My wife will be using a reduced 350 grain Barnes TSX (mv=2450) that shoots to the same point as the above two loads.

NF's because they're easier to get an accurate load combination with them. Also, they don't foul the gun like the barnes do.

I don't find the TSXs to be foulers at all.

Easy vote for me because I used the North Forks in my Model 70 Safari Classic .416 Remington on my Buffalo hunt to the Selous in 04 and they performed flawlessly. I also have the Rigby and hope to use it someday, and I will certainly have the North Forks loaded. Good shooting.

North Fork softs(370gr) and 400gr.Banded solids shoot to the same spot. NorthFork softs were devistating on cape buffalo this fall out of my .416 Rigby @ 2500F/S. Dr.C

The Northfork cup point is the best bullet I have ever used, no question about it...I have used it in several calibers on Buffalo and plainsgame and it just works...

I no longer see the need for a soft or solid, just use the cup point from Northfork, you will not be disapointed.

I have not used the Northfork ... and need to correct that. BUT have had stellar performance from the Barnes on Buf and Bison.

As a result, I did not vote.
