I'm looking for a load for 269 grain GC. I have been using pistol powders in the past with cotton or dryer lint tamped on top of the charge to keep the powder in the base of the case. These loads have always worked well with no problems, however a double charge is somewhat harder to detect, and I always have a concern about the charge shifting away from the primer.
Does anyone have a load that will fill more of the case or any comments on the use of cotton or dryer lint. I do not fill the empty space. I only put enough in to hold the powder in place.( about the size of a 45 cal round ball). These loads are only used to shoot targets. My wallet and shoulder can't handle a whole lot of the jacketed stuff.

Here is my load for the Lyman 375449 with a hollow point weighing 250 grs. It's sized to .377 the neck was flared with a 38/55 die and 0.6 gr of Kapok was used as a filler. The metal is linotype and alox the lube.

Kapok is found in life jackets. Just weigh up a piece about 0.6 gr and then make the other ones about that size as the one you weighed.

This load is very accurate. It chronographed at 2007 fps from 25" bbl with 45 gr of imr 3031. I used regular 9 1/2 primers with that load. If I were to load more I would use magnum primers. I got one deer with it, a one shot affair.

I think Handloader mag did an article about reduced practice loads for a 375 H & H a couple of years back...check your back issues. I will look for it when I get home, it was a pretty good article.

BigBores; I don't have that issue of Handloader. If you can find it I sure would appreciate if you could email me a copy of that article or the load data ...thanks Jim
