Many years ago I commissioned Tip Burns of Texas Sporting Arms in Canyon Lake, Texas, to build a pair of 404 Jeffery rifles on MRC 1999 Long Actions. One right handed, for me. And a left handed model for my friend David Guitar. Unfortunately David passed away two years ago. His wife graciously returned the rifle to me. So, Together again!

Very nice pair, what I would call nicely subdued, nothing over the top. FWI maybe worth I congratulate you on having them made with sensible bases and rings mounting the scope as low as it can go where all scopes should be.

My pet hate is to see a beautifully made and finished rifle with a scope mounted like a carry handle.

Beautiful rifles!

Good to have them rejoined again, but sorry for the sad manner which produced it.

My condolences.

My two favorite rifles are my Dakota 76s in 404 Jeffery and 35 Whelen. I have taken those two to Zambia as a 2-rifle battery which I find near perfection for a DG & PG hunt.

Rusty, if I had a pair of twin rifles like that, I'd find a way to turn ambidextrous!

I'm sorry about your friend - and you were a true friend to commission that fine rifle for him.

May he rest in peace.

Rusty, I remember Tip. I bought his leftover Blasers when he closed up shop. He went on to manage a plantation of some sort for a short time, then wound up at Blaser USA. Not sure where he is these days.

Rusty, that stock on the left-handed rifle is just amazing! It looks like it’s on fire in a couple of those pics.

Rusty-
I am so glad to hear that Tip is back in business building rifles. A few years ago I had Tip rebarrel a Rem Model 30 to .35 Newton and it is one of my favorite rifles. Is he still at his old place in Canyon Lake?
