At Reno SCI in January, I asked Steve Hornady and several of the other company reps about getting the reloading components for my new 416 Ruger rifle. Just heard back from Hornady, in response to my recent email checking up on their progress. Their answer about availability of dies for the 416 Ruger was disappointing.

"Due to increased demand for our products, the reloading dies will not be available until late summer".

Guess I'll have a hunting report for tuskless ele and buffalo with factory DGX and DGS loads.

Well it has to do with the war, and the fact that the US is making the Iraq and Afghan militarys buy US made ammunition.

So our troops are shooting something like 200,000 rounds a day (that's the figure I heard), and the Iraq and Afghan start up militarys are shooting quite a bit as well.

hmmmmmmmmm...

I guess that's one way to kill any future the 375/416 Ruger ever had. We had quite a discussion here last year how the 375 ruger was going to bury the H&H, ditto for how dead the 416 Rigby would be by this time next year.

As Mark Twain once said "...rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated...". In this case Hornady/Ruger are taking care of business as usual.
