Woodleigh soft or solid, accept no substitute. This is particularly true if your rifle is a double.

GeronomoI have used a .500NE on both buffalo and elephant. I use Woodleigh bullets and can say that they performed fairly well. I say fairly well because the solids have fishtailed on occaision and I routinely shoot through buffalo with the softs on broadside shots, even when bone is hit. This is a problem in herds. Three years ago I had to pay a small fine and fill out some papers when a through and through shot hit a cow buffalo. She had an ugly wound from the expanded slug and needed to be finished just as she was about to give us a go. Obviously I removed the aforementioned bullets from dead animals, so the bullets ultimately did their job. I stick with Woodleighs because they are made to original specs and are lead cored, therefore I don't have to be concerned about regulation or barrel separation or any of that other stuff. Just my 2 cents worth.
