Iron BuckWill Winchester make Big Bores again?
I'd rather see them make the 416 Ruger. It looks like it will be the better case to base a 416 on. I see no use for a "416 WSM"......actually I am not a fan of any of the short mags. WSM or RSUM

RaySenderoWell...I wish them well at their new location.
But, Think they maybe missing the boat!?
I would
NOT pay a $200+ premium for a Win M70 in a standard caliber over say a Rem or Ruger.
However, I would pay premium for a Win M70 in a Big Bore caliber!

I don't like the short mags either. But just the fact that they are already making basic brass in that case size is a good reason to lengthen the case to 2.5" and chamber the round in a standard action.
I would like it more than the .416 ruger... it could have more case taper, and less pressure at comparable velocities, for better feeding and extraction.
And it would be really cool if it used .400 calibre rounds (.410) and they called it the .400 Win Mag.
But if they made a 2.5" version they would fuck it up by 'improving' the case, and loading it hot to squeeze every last bit of velocity out of the poor thing.

MileHighShooterA 416 WSM would likely be pretty "improved" as well, seeing as the parent case has very minimal taper and sharp shoulder. The only company in the last what...10 years?...that has come out with anything thats not "improved" is the 338 Federal.
And by the articles I've seen on them, 416 WSM wildcats are not very far behind or are right there with standard 416's, so it WOULD make sense, seeing as they already mass produce the action. As much as I'd like to see it as a factory option, its extremely unlikely. Factory Olin ammo would pretty much be limited to Partitions, I don't think Nosler produces any other 416's do they?
