I was basing my comment on the fact that when I asked them about dies for 416 wildcats they told me they no did custom dies.
That web page you have illustrated...I am wondering if that is referring to dies they have already made and that are listed?

Mike, RCBS certainyl does make custom dies, as I have spoken with them int eh matter no more than 4 weeks ago. In fact, this is a critical line of business to them, and is listed on their website

jeffe,
When I called RCBS in 2003 about getting a custom die for a 375x2.5" Flanged NE H&H double that has a very tight chamber (just in case their regular die in this caliber did not work, since I had already bought a CH set that was too large) I was transferred to the department that you referred to. I was told that they no longer offered custom dies other than their regular special order dies, and that they would not be able to help if these dies were too large. Hopefully they have changed this policy, but can you confirm that you asked about a custom dimensioned die, and not a special order die?
Thanks, Jim |

| You have touched on the biggest problem there is for the 500 Jeff. After 70 years, CIP finally got around to making standard dimensions on 2-15-00. The included shoulder angle is: 25 degrees, 13 minutes and 42 seconds. ANYTHING else is not standard. I have brought this to the attention of RCBS, Clymer, Manson, JGS, etc. 4-d makes the proper dies and I believe RCBS has just started doing so. This lack of concrete standards is what gave gunsmiths fits on other grand cartridges such as 416 Rigby. Fortunately, that problem has been taken care of also. I have copies of he CIP drawings for anyone needing them. Seeya Duane |
