| Drove to a friends house to go to the range ~1 hour away. Kept my car keys with me. Got kind of warm in the afternoon scrubbing barrels after the sun came out. Hung my coat on the hook. Get back to my friends house, go to load up my car and presto...no keys. Left them in my coat pocket hanging on the hook at the range. Forgetting something at home happens to everyone, but forgetting something AT the range is a different story altogether.
The fact that it happened isn't that big of a deal. What really bothers me is that I haven't even hit 35 yet.
Future's lookin' dim.

| Here is what tells you when your are either getting old or having a really, really bad day. A friend of mine were out hunting once in some draws a few miles from my grandfather's ranch. Not serious hunting mind you, just sort of walking along seeing what we could put up. I had made arrangements for my brother to drop us off and pick us up late that afternoon. Anyways, he arrives to pick us up and hands me the keys to the car so I can open the trunk. I open the trunk, put the keys in the pocket of my shell vest, case the shotgun, throw a couple recently dispatched cottontails in the trunk and look around to be sure I had everything packed. Oh yeah I forgot the shell vest. I take it off, keys in pocket and toss it in the trunk with the rest the gear. All done now, time to go. Close the trunk and walked over to the passenger door. My brother then asks for the keys. All I can do is look at him with a blank stare on my face. That was a long, cold, silent walk back to the ranch for the spare keys. Mac |
