ANDY375HHPoll which stock for 375 H&H
I am debating on which stock to put on my Win Stainless Synthetic .375H&H. I would like to see everyones input. I want either a McMillan or an H-S Precision. Thought and Input will help greatly. ThanksH-S PrecisionMcMillan
McMillan, just because. And, yes, I need a couple of them to replace my milkjug stocks if I am ever to be seen in "polite" company with either rifle.

<allen day>H-S stocks are sold under the guise that the machined bedding block allows drop-in installation that will provide a proper fit. Sometimes this is true and sometimes it isn't. I've seen barreled actions dropped into H-S stocks that did not fit well, sometimes to the point that the action screws would bind in the holes. I suspect this sort of glitch is often the result of actions that do not have perfectly square receiver faces, etc. Nevertheless, bedding an H-S stock isn't a bad idea. In reality, it's hard to make a bedding block that's produced in one plant in SD perfectly fit a barreled action that was produced in New Haven (or SC), possibly on a Friday afternoon...........
My pick is McMillan, hands-down. ALL of my personal hunting rifles wear McMillan stocks, including my custom Model 70 Classic in .375 H&H.

Charles Mc WilliamsMc Millian gets my vote. I have restocked two of my light rifles a 375 and a 416 and i love them. Good stock and it will hold up as well or better than anything i have seen out there. Hope this helps you out. Charlie

safarihunterI've been using McMillan for over 12 years and can't find anything bad about them.
I just got their newer "Safari" stock for my M 70 375 H&H project. It looks really good except they only inlet for Sunny Hill bottom metal. Nothing that a Blackburn and a little epoxy won't fix.

lawndartDoes the "Wood" brand of synthetic stocks use graphite filler in all their stocks, or just the ones with the aluminum bedding blocks?

McMillan for sure on an important rifle !!
Do McMillan stocks have aluminium bedding blocks? I just looked at their webpage and could tell how a barreled action would be bedded to the stock. I have an HSP stock on my .378, and the bedding block did required some rasping/grinding to get it bedded with a free-floated barrel...but it is an extremely strong and accurate platform to shoot from...
