Does anyone have data for a 300 gr bullet for the 416 Rem mag that also shows velocity? Among other bigger things, I'm going to hunt whitetails with it using some 300 gr Hawks w/ the .035 jacket. I don't need 3000 fps with it, either. Maybe 2300-2400 fps. [This message has been edited by old4x4 (edited 02-26-2002).]

I looked in the Barnes manual. They have plenty of loading data for the 300 grain bullet, but the starting loads get 2700 fps. I would be very cautious in backing these down much, because sometimes very light loads can be more dangerous than overloads, especially with slow powders.

4x4 are Hawk bulltetts available outside the U.S ?, and have you/or anyone you know tried speer 350 gr magtips or 340 gr woodleigh pp's. I would be interested to here how fast the speers and hawks open up. Regards PC ------------------

PC...I'm going to use the 350 Gr Mag Tips this October on moose in Newfoundland. I've shot many Hawks, but none at animals yet...that comes in November. I figure the Mag tips won't expand on 110 lb whitetails

Old 4x4 I will be trying out the woodleigh 410 grainers on hogs in July up at Bourke in N.S.W (supposed to go in April, but am to busy) and next April will head right up North and try them on camels and donkey's (will also hopefully have my .585 Nyatti finished to try as well). Let us know how the mag tips go, I wonder if I loaded a few would they shoot that differently than the woodleigh 410 grainers as to cause a miss??. ------------------
