Been looking to pick up a 416 and the other day while cruising through Cabelas gun room I found one of Winchester's new Safari Express' chambered in .416 Rem. Matte blued with decent wood and at what I thought was a good price---$850. What do you guys think? I told them to hold it for me but I would love some feedback before I buy it. I had a look at one in .375 H&H the other day. Lovely rifle. I could not find anything to fault it. Over here (RSA) it costs more that 3,000 USD (22,000 ZAR). Even at that price, I think it is a good buy! | |||

I paid $1,049 for mine in .375. I'm very happy with it. The trigger is great and it's very accurate. That price is a bargain. | |||

Thats a real good price. I bought mine used for 825. Its a REM 416 I just recently put another barrel on it. It wasn't shot out I just wanted a new barrel on it. | |||

I have two of the new production M70s. A Sporter in 270 Win and a Safari Express in 375 H&H. Both look great and shoot great. I know they are made at the FN plant in South Carolina (or North, I can never remember) but the barrels on both are stamped with "Made in USA BACO, Inc. Morgan, Utah" | |||

The barrels are made in Utah, the rifles components are assembled in Carolina plant. | |||

According to an article written by John Haviland in the Nov. 2008 "Rifle" magazine, the barrel is the only component made in the Columbia, SC plant. The action, for instance, is made in Greenville, SC. Other parts are sourced from other FN plants and other manufacturers. Everything is assembled in the FN plant in Columbia. I just bought a Super Grade in plain old boring 30-06...so far, I'm impressed. "There always seems to be a big market for making the clear, complex." | |||

Apologies, I had my facts mixes up.... The barrel is stamped as above as Morgan, UT is where the Browning Arms Company (BACO) HQ is based. | |||
