Since so many of you have a CZ550 can someone tell me how far forward you have to push the trigger to "set" it? Is this acompanied by an audible click or some other indicator that it has "set"?

I've pushed mine what seems like a goodly amount and it seems to make no difference. I'm kind of ham fisted so I don't want to overdo anything.

Thanks,

Ax

Have you cocked the rifle first? ie. operated the bolt?. I don't have my rifle at work (!) but as I recollect I could feel something.

What? You don't have your rifle at work? Come to think of it me neither.

Peter, yes, I did cock it otherwise I wouldn't have been able to dry fire it. How far forward do you have to push the trigger?

Thanks!

You will hear and feel a click. Mine clicks rather loud. I have to push mine almost a 1/2".
You will feel more resistance when it gets close just keep pushing. You won't break it!

You do not have to cock the rifle to ste the trigger. It will set even if the rifle is un-cocked.

What caliber CZ do you have Poleax?

David, Thank You.

I picked up the Safari in .416 Rigby last night. I already have a set of RCBS dies, Norma Brass, and plenty of powder. Now just need some bullets.

Was thinking I ought to bed it and/or install another crossbolt. Of course, I could shoot it until it breaks and order the American stock.

I checked and it has the screw retainer on the firing pin not the clip.

I think a 9.3x62 in the FS will be on the horizon.

I have always liked the Full Stock versions. I do not have one, but was planning on geting one in one of the metric calibers. Now it looks like the 9.3 is the only metric left.
Not that I do not like the 9.3, I just like to have the choices.

Some people claim the 416 will break the stock, my 375 has not broke my stock yet.

I hope you enjoy your 416. CZ's are very nice rifles.

Yeah,

there ia a click when you push forwards, I to would love a FS version in 9.3x62 I have a lux in 9.3 but I grabbed that as thye do not usually import 9.3's to Oz.

The cz's are great rifles congratulations.

Also make sure you bed that .416 stock it will mostlikely wreck it other wise. I had my cz .375 bedded as well.

My cz .416 wears a composite stock.

Leave the bolt half up and then do it I was told takes some energy off the fireing pin.

I also got told with rimfires it was an issue.

This is a dumb question. But I've been fooling around with my 416 rigby action and dry firing a lot at various animals on LV Eric's african hunting tape.

Does excessive dry firing harm the pin at all? It looks pretty stout but I'm not very sure...

I've always dry fired my rifles and never had a problem.. I think I even ask my smitty once and he said no problems. But, I'm told, don't do it with shotguns.
