Are there any folks that shoot .510 caliber rifles besides myself that would like to see North Fork make at least a limited run of .510 caliber SS bullets? I'm not sure how much of a bulk buy it would take, I'm sure John can tell us if it's even a possibility. I would be interested in either 570g or 600g SS bullets.

The North Fork SP "soft" bullets are not a simple matter of reprogramming the machine for a limited run of monometals.
More complex to form and fill the nose with bonded lead, as well as the CNC machined copper base.
Methinks if North Fork is going to make any at all, then they must commit to a complex set of tooling to form .510-caliber softs as an ongoing offering.
There has been some talk of their possibly doing that.
It will be a good day for many of us if that comes to pass.
Just getting a small batch of 300 to 1000 probably won't happen.
Has the .500 caliber softpoint happened yet?
That is one that would have more uses in various rifle and handgun softpoint loads.

SS = Semi-Spitzer soft point
FP = Flat Point soft point
CPS = Cup Point expanding Solid
FPS = Flat Point Solid

Just getting my North Fork acronyms straight, after looking here:

At the web site it appears North Fork has added the .500-caliber FP soft point in both 375 and 400-grain weights.
Also .500-caliber CPS and FPS of 375 and 450-grain weights.

.505-caliber has matching FPS and CPS in both 525 and 600 grain weight.

.510-caliber has matching FPS and CPS in 535, 570, and 600-grain weights.
Methinks that will do me just fine, considering the CPS as a really tough "soft point" having greater utility than the FPS solid of same weight.
However the slicker feeding SS soft point in 535 or 570-grain weight would be nice, for those with feeding impaired rifles.
Maybe the new (Gen. III) nose shape on the .510 FPS and CPS will make that tend toward "mootness."
The CPS is one tough "soft point"/expanding solid.

John and I worked on the .500 caliber 450 Bonded specific to the 50 B&M Alaskan, lever gun. However, of course it works dandy in all the other .500 caliber rifles and cartridges I have here.

To get things started I paid for the forming dies to be made, they are not cheap, and take some time to get done. Since we started with a 450 gr bullet, it is easy to drop the weight, with the same nose. Recently I ordered 500 pieces at 400 grs, an excellent mid weight that will work great in the levers, and bolts here. I see John is adding a 375 as well, which I must have a few of those for my Super Shorts! LOL...........

The addition of these Premium Bonded bullets is a tremendous boost to various rifles in .500 caliber, it gives the .500 shooter yet another tool to put in his basket for various missions.

And no doubt, these are the finest Soft Points in the world, not effected adversely by velocity as most all Soft Point lead bonded or not bullets are. In fact, as we well know, penetration actually increases with more velocity, absolutely opposite of most all conventional expanding bullets!

NF still has their - I believe it was 570gr - .510 caliber SS bullet manufacturing die sets. Though they're not currently listed on their website NF will still manufacture them.

If you contact NF directly they can tell you if they have bullets on the shelf, and if not, what their minimum bullet order requirement is to do another bullet run.

Did not know what Jim posted about North Fork .510/570-grain SS bullets of the past,
or if I did, I forgot about it!

If they have that .510 SS nose-forming tooling,
then they can make other weights too, by shortening or lengthening the solid copper base machining step.

Ah...I've not posted anything in the past regarding the 570gr .510 NF SS bullets. I did PM John regarding the availability of .510 SS bullets and was informed they still had the die set and could manufacture the bullets - they're just not currently listed on their website - cause they're not a stock item (my guess).

John from NF has been very open that they maintain their prior version die set and as long as the die set is usable that they'll make a run of that style/caliber/weight bullet for anyone willing to order the minimum order required for the custom run. I relay nothing else.

And I truly have zero idea what their manufacturing process is to make multiple SS bullet weights in a single caliber.

Some .510 caliber 570g North Fork SS bullets would be perfect if John has the dies. I'm sure he'll chime in and set us straight

North Fork has NEVER made a .510 Semi-spitzer. We have only made CPS and FPS solids. We have a design for a die ready to be produced but we have not created the die or all the other tooling necessary to create the bullet. On average this is a significant multiple $K investment. The call for a semi-spitzer has not been as significant as those shooting .257 and .323 so we have issued dies to be made in those calibers.

Our minds can be changed, but currently, the need for .510 SS bullets is just not seen by us. Please take it as your quest to change our minds.
