I have a Ruger Alaskan 416. Love the gun but I am on my second Hogue factory supplied recoil pad. They are fairly soft and really help but keep splitting right at the top after about 50 rounds under recoil. Is there a better recoil pad out there that will fit the Alaskan stock that will hold up? That is odd, I have several of these rifles with lots of rounds down range and have never seen or heard of this issue. So, it is happening on the second one also? Yes, they have both split right at the edge top of the pad. Not on the flat for your shoulder. Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor | |||
