Can it be converted to the 458 Lott as easy as the CZ 550? Is it the same action as the 550? Is this a better gun? I have found one for sale and am considering buying it but only if it can be converted as easily as the 550. Comments, suggestions. Thanks. ------------------

A friend of mine in Norway did that and after he had shot it extensively, ran into some feed problems. I guess he has them sorted out now as I haven't heard any more complaints for a long while. I converted mine to a .450 Rigby and it seems to work just fine. Of course you get more rounds in the magazine with a Lott, but if you cut triangles in the sides of the magazine and Dremel out the wood a bit, you can get 4+1 with the Rigby. If you go that route, try 105-106 gr. of IMR 4350 behind a Hornady 500 gr. That gives you around 6,000 ft lbs. and absolutely knocks buffalo DOWN. I expect that it would give an elephant a serious crick in the neck as well. Sarge

I expect so! It might give the shooter a serious crick as well. Thanks Sarge. Why don't you just give me your 450 and save me all this trouble of having mine converted I have considered what you suggest as I like the 450 Rigby, very similar to the 450 Dakota which I would prefer to have. But I have to go with the poor mans big bore conversion. ------------------

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Buffalobwana: Hi Wendell, The 602 in 458 will chamber out to the 458 Lott without a problem. I chambered one out to the 450 Ackley and it fed perfectly as well as holding five in the magazine and one up the spout. The Lott is a bit shorter and should not create any problems. The safety on the 602 works backwards to the CZ 550. The finish on the 550 action is a little better but nothing you can't bring the 602 upto. The bolts still break down the same for cleaning. Both are very good actions. 470 Mbogo
