Hallo Everybody I have been lurking around on this website for months now and this will be my first posting with a lot of questions as one would expect.I am a South African working here in the States and soon I will go back to my Fatherland.I would like to have a rifle in my battery ,but according to SA law I am not allowed to have more than 1 handgun or shotgun for self defense and 3 rifles for hunting purposes.Well I have 1 shotgun and 3 handguns for hunting so that explains my dilema. My brother and I are thinking of building a rifle in 375h&h,Mauser action[K98],South African barrel[Vector],Swarovski 4x12 ,English or French Walnut in a traditional design. With this I mean a fullstock based on a Steyr Manlicher classic rifle. Is there any one out there that has built a rifle in 375h&h with a fullstock design.Steyr only makes the 9,3x62 so I am wondering if this venture is viable. We will have all the work done in South Africa by competent gunbuilders and smiths. The ones we have talked to said that there would be no problems,We just need to supply the wood[my brother has a few contacts]and on we go. I would really appreciate it if somebody could post pictures of their fullstocks, what length barrels you guys have used ,twist rate, designs, target weight and very important pros and cons of this design. This rifle will be used to hunt plains game ranging from Springbok to Eland, but one never knows when a Dagga boy[buffalo]will walk into your sights. We love the look and feel of a full stock, the way a Steyr comes to your shoulder and the confidance it inspires. We would appreciate all info and for that I would like to say thanks in advance. Johan, I've no experience with a full stock .375 but are you familiar with these folks Sabi rifles Ihad a .375 that they built for me and the stock work was flawless. I would highly recommend them for the stock work. Sendero300>>>===TerryP

Sako made Mannlicher stocked 375 rifles for a number of years. I believe they had 20" barrels.

Welcome aboard, this isn't in the right caliber for you but is my Dumoulin in .338 Win. It's a late 1950's vintage, barrel length is 19 1/2" from the front ring. You'll lose some velocity from the shorter barrel, and gain a little muzzle blast, but they sure make a handy rifle. Just stick with a standard twist for the .375 and you'll be able to shoot any reasonable bullet weight just fien with it. Browningguy Houston, TX We Band of 45-70ers

Hallo Thank you for the responses that I had,I appreciate it.There is a gunbuilder in South Africa and the company's name is J&J Wapens[weapons].They had a small picture in one of the Magnum magazines with a short little write up of the gunbuilder and his gun but no information about the caliber, place of manufacture or nothing.I am sure that that gun in real life would be one of the most stunning guns that I have seen. My brother and I had the good fortune of handling a gun that was in the prosses of being finished up for a Swedish gentalmen if I am correct. The gun was in 9,3x62,it had a 8 sided Vector barrel[blued],full length stock made out of some type of exotic Walnut[I think it was either French or Hungarian],open sights, gold inlay, holds for 4 bullets in the stock behind a gold inlayed latch ,very tasty engraving and rifling . It was more a work of art than a work piece and the whole package was worth +- $7000 but worth every penny.I wish I took a picture. One day hopefully soon we will be able to post our picture and share it with you guys.Once again thank you for the trouble you guys went through to reply. Regards Johan
